It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”

On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”

Natalia Kharitonova, Press Secretary of the CSTO Secretariat and Doctor of Political Sciences, participated in the 10th Moscow International Scientific and Practical Conference on Political Risks and Forecasting, "International Uncertainty 2026," held at MGIMO on December 10. At the event, representatives of leading research centers summarized the results of the outgoing international season and discussed the challenges shaping the 2026 agenda.

Natalia Kharitonova delivered a report at the plenary session titled "The CSTO's Place in the Emerging Eurasian Security System," focusing on the CSTO's current information and analytical work, the prospects for Russia's chairmanship of the Organization in 2026, the conceptual foundations for the formation of a new international security system in Eurasia, and the CSTO's place within it.

The plenary session of the conference, "Global Turbulence: Is a New Security Architecture Possible in Eurasia?" was attended by MGIMO Rector and Academician A.V. Torkunov, Vice-Rector for Research A.A. Baykov, Deputy Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs M.S. Khodynskaya-Golenishcheva, MGIMO Professor and host of the program "The Big Game" on Channel One D. Simes, Professor at the Center for East Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University Shrikant Kondapalli, and Professor at the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University (China) Zhao Huasheng. The session was moderated by A.A. Sush, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations.
