Congratulatory message from CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the drug trafficking control service within the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Belarus
09.10.2026
Dear Oleg Konstantinovich,
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the CSTO Secretariat and in my own name, I warmly congratulate the leadership, staff and veterans of the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Service for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking within the internal affairs bodies of Belarus.
For decades, Belarusian drug control units have consistently taken the lead in initiating numerous efforts aimed at intensifying and coordinating the work of the Organization’s member states to counter challenges and threats associated with illicit drug trafficking in the CSTO area of responsibility.
The CSTO anti-drug operations “Channel-West,” “Channel-Western Barrier,” “Channel-Neman” and “Channel-Western Dvina,” organized by the Belarusian side, have demonstrated the high effectiveness and tangible results of our joint efforts. During these four operations, more than 26 tonnes of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and potent substances were seized from drug traffickers in the territories of the participating countries.
The strong results achieved in combating transnational drug trafficking groups attest to the targeted and professional efforts undertaken in the Republic of Belarus to prevent drug-related offenses.
Many initiatives and roadmaps aimed at countering drug threats, developed and implemented by our Belarusian colleagues, have received the support of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus. They serve as a model for this work for the member states of our Organization and many other countries.
It can be stated with confidence that Belarusian drug control officers, working in cooperation with the relevant ministries and agencies of the Republic of Belarus, are reliably protecting our states against the influx of prohibited narcotic drugs and their analogues from the West.
The established practice of cooperation and joint efforts with the anti-drug service of Belarus and those of other CSTO member states, based on mutual respect, trust and understanding, makes an important contribution to collectively countering challenges and threats to the security of our states.
I sincerely wish the leadership and staff of the anti-drug units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus continued success in their responsible and noble work for the benefit of their homeland and their allies in the Collective Security Treaty Organization!
