Servicemen of the Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District (CMD) have arrived in the Republic of Belarus to take part in the command-and-staff exercise with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2026” and the special exercise with the CSTO joint NBC protection and medical support formation “Barrier-2026”.
On October 7, 2026, the Fourth Counter-Terrorism Forum opened in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), bringing together the CIS Conference on Countering Terrorism and Extremism, the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure international scientific and practical conference, and joint counter-terrorism exercises.
October 7 marks the 24th anniversary of the signing of the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which formalized the establishment of the CSTO as an international regional organization. The goals set out in the document, including strengthening peace and stability and collectively protecting the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the member states, remain the foundation for developing mutually beneficial, truly allied cooperation. On this basis, the Russian Federation is chairing the CSTO in 2026 under the motto “Collective security in a multipolar world: a common goal, shared responsibility.”

On behalf of myself and the entire CSTO Secretariat team, I congratulate you on the upcoming New Year 2026!
The past year was a period of intense and fruitful work to strengthen the collective security of our countries. In the new year, we will work together to address common challenges in a challenging international environment.
As we enter 2026, the Russian Federation assumes its chairmanship of the Organization under the motto "Collective Security in a Multipolar World: Common Goal, Shared Responsibility." Guided by Russia's priorities, we will work to strengthen the role of the CSTO as a key element of the emerging Eurasian security architecture.
Our focus remains on developing the components of the CSTO Collective Forces and improving our potential to counter terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and new challenges, including threats in the information and biological spheres.
I would like to especially emphasize the enduring value of our alliance. The CSTO has been and remains a bulwark of security in the Eurasian space. Mutual trust and a willingness to jointly respond to any challenges form the solid foundation on which we build our common future.
May 2026 be a year of peace, creation, and new achievements for the well-being of our peoples.
