On May 26 of this year, a round table entitled “35 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Results, Tasks, and Prospects” was held at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by heads of integration structures in the post-Soviet space, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of the embassies of CIS countries in Russia. Opening remarks were delivered by the moderator, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.

On 9 October 2023, the CSTO Secretariat hosted a working meeting between Samat Ordabaev, the Deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and Kakha Imnadze, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues in the context of the dynamically developing contacts between the CSTO and the United Nations. Particular attention was paid to the situation in the Central Asian region in view of the "Afghan factor", the exchange of experience on preventive measures to counter risks and threats, and cooperation in the field of information and forecasting.
