Servicemen of the Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District (CMD) have arrived in the Republic of Belarus to take part in the command-and-staff exercise with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2026” and the special exercise with the CSTO joint NBC protection and medical support formation “Barrier-2026”.
On October 7, 2026, the Fourth Counter-Terrorism Forum opened in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), bringing together the CIS Conference on Countering Terrorism and Extremism, the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure international scientific and practical conference, and joint counter-terrorism exercises.
October 7 marks the 24th anniversary of the signing of the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which formalized the establishment of the CSTO as an international regional organization. The goals set out in the document, including strengthening peace and stability and collectively protecting the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the member states, remain the foundation for developing mutually beneficial, truly allied cooperation. On this basis, the Russian Federation is chairing the CSTO in 2026 under the motto “Collective security in a multipolar world: a common goal, shared responsibility.”

On August 28 this year, under the chairmanship by the Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aman Mambetseyitov, a meeting of the Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held, in which the CSTO Deputy Secretaries General Piotr Tsikhanouski and Alymbay Sultanov took part.
The draft agendas for the upcoming session of the Collective Security Council and the joint meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs , the Council of Ministers of Defense and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils were considered. Work on these documents will continue at the next meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council.
The Permanent Council discussed a number of draft political statements regarding the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, the situation in Afghanistan, the stabilization of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as ensuring comprehensive stability in the world and the fight against the glorification of Nazism. It is planned to continue consideration of the above mentioned draft statements at the next meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council.
The parties also discussed the preparations for the Working Meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the CSTO member states, scheduled for September, 27, this year in New York on the margins of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
