On May 26 of this year, a round table entitled “35 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Results, Tasks, and Prospects” was held at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. On May 5, 2026, the CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov met with the Security Council Secretary of Russia Sergey Shoigu.
Talatbek Masadykov informed Sergey Shoigu about the outcomes of his meetings with the leadership of the CSTO member states held during the first half of the current year, as well as about the implementation of the Action Plan aimed at carrying out the decisions adopted at the November 2025 session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the priority areas of the Organization’s activities during the chairmanship of the Russian Federation.
The interlocutors also discussed the agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the CSTO Committee of Security Council Secretaries scheduled for May 26, as well as other topical issues related to the Organization’s activities.
Russia’s chairmanship in the CSTO in 2026 is being carried out under the motto “Collective security in a multipolar world: a common goal and shared responsibility.”
