28.10.2025
The plenary session of the III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security has successfully concluded in the Belarusian capital. The forum became one of the largest dialogue platforms of the year, bringing together delegations from more than 40 countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and other regions of the world. Participants included representatives of the foreign ministries of Russia, Hungary, North Korea, Myanmar, Iran, China, India, as well as seven leading international organizations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Union State, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). The plenary session was opened by President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
In his speech, the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that modern challenges and threats had come close to the borders of the Organization's area of responsibility. In these conditions, the CSTO is actively improving its crisis response mechanisms and strengthening its defense capabilities. In response to the Afghan crisis, the CSTO Special Interstate Policy for strengthening sections of the Tajik-Afghan Border was adopted. The first stage of its implementation has already begun. The Secretary General also emphasized the importance of developing cooperation with partners in the UN, the BRICS, the CIS, and the SCO to maintain stability in Greater Eurasia.
As part of the conference, the CSTO Secretariat has scheduled a separate working session for October 29 entitled “Prospects for Collective Security in Eurasia: The CSTO Area of Responsibility as a Space for Dialogue.” The event will provide an opportunity to deepen the discussion on ways to shape the Eurasian security architecture and current approaches to countering common challenges.
