Delegation of the CSTO Joint Staff Takes Part in Events of the Council of Border Troops Commanders of the CIS 20.08.2026

On August 17–19, at the invitation of Colonel General Alexander Manilov, Chairman of the Coordination Service of the Council of Border Troops Commanders of the CIS, a delegation of the CSTO Joint Staff headed by Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov took part in international events held in the area of responsibility of the Border Directorate of the Russian Federal Security Service for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

During the working meetings, the experience and specific features of protecting the external borders of the CIS member states, as well as priorities and prospects for military-technical cooperation, were discussed.

The main objective of the joint command-and-staff exercise, the second stage of which included tactical scenarios, was to improve cooperation between border and other agencies of the CIS member states in preparing for and responding to (eliminating) crisis situations along the external borders of the Commonwealth.

Following the events, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov noted that the importance of ensuring collective security continues to grow, requiring close cooperation with all relevant international organizations. He emphasized that many practical issues are successfully addressed during joint exercises and training activities. Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov also noted that the events in St. Petersburg provided an opportunity to discuss areas for further developing cooperation between the CSTO Joint Staff and the Council of Border Troops Commanders of the CIS.
