28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation visits the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization
15.07.2022On July 14, 2022 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Collective Security Treaty Organization Victor Biyagov and representative of the Armenian Armed Forces to the CSTO Major General Artak Tonoyan visited the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, briefed the guests at the working meeting on the CSTO collective security system, which ensures protection of collective interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the CSTO member states, on its governance bodies, forces and resources, as well as on joint training of troops and forces in the CSTO format.
Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Viktor Biyagov, Major General Artak Tonoyan visited the decision-making hall of the CSTO Crisis Response Center, where the collection, analysis and exchange of information about the state and trends in the situation in the Organization's area of responsibility, as well as information-analytical and information-technology support for the activities of CSTO charter and working bodies to ensure timely decision-making aimed at the security of the CSTO member states are conducted.
The guests were also briefed on the activities of the structural subdivisions of the CSTO Joint Staff and were introduced to the historical exposition of the lecture and exhibition hall, located in the International Military Center.
