During the “Conduct of combat operations” stage, two main training objectives are being practiced: the occupation by the national contingents of the CRDF CAR of the area of responsibility and the destruction of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
The active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) “Frontier-2026” has begun at the Koktal training range in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the exercise, the participating forces are practicing the preparation and conduct of combat operations to destroy illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
On September 11, 2026, a round table entitled “Kazakhstan–Central Asia–Greater Eurasia: resilience and security amid new challenges” was held at the Center for Social Conservative Policy. The event was organized by the CSTO Secretariat jointly with the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICCA RAS) and the Center for Social Conservative Policy (CSCP).
The event was attended by CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov, Director of the ICCA RAS Kirill Babaev, members of the CSTO Permanent Council and representatives of the academic and expert communities of the member states. The discussion was moderated by Yuri Shuvalov, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat.

The specialists discussed countermeasures to fight against the new coronavirus infection and provided the participants with the information related to the relevant experience of the Russian military service men in the Italy and Serbia.
YEREVAN, Apr 16 - Sputnik. The CSTO Spokesman's Service reports that the delegations of the defense departments of the CSTO member states have discussed the issues related to the countermeasures against the new type of coronavirus COVID-19 to prevent the further contagion.
The video-conference for the CSTO defense department representatives took place on the Thursday in the CSTO Crisis Response Center. Heads of the CSTO Military Medical Service departments conducted additional out-of-schedule consultations related to the countermeasures to fight the pandemic.
Participants of the consultations have paid special attention to the activity control issues related to the observation mode and tactics of managing serious patients.
Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Head of the CSTO Joint Staff, noted that the experts had managed to discuss the prevention and control of a new coronavirus infection and to familiarize the consultation participants with the experience of the medical service of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, obtained through close cooperation with the civilian health of the Russian Federation, as well as during the provision of assistance by Russian troops in Italy and Serbia.
The meeting participants agreed to continue interaction in this format to analyze information on the situation related to the spread of coronavirus and to quickly exchange experience between specialists from the defense departments of the CSTO member states.
In addition to maintaining the health of service men and members of their families, the defense departments are responsible to maintain the survivability and military’s preparedness.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the CSTO Secretariat and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
