The CSTO Crisis Response Center has completed the final stage of a joint business game to develop solutions aimed at preventing and resolving crisis situations.

It was attended by members of the CSTO Secretariat, representatives of the CSTO Joint Staff and operational groups of interested ministries and departments of the organization’s member states.
The first stage of the joint Business game took place on Tuesday, March 26th. In the course of the meeting, questions were developed regarding the assessment of the military-political and strategic situation in the CSTO area of responsibility, the preparation of proposals for priority political and diplomatic measures, as well as the use of forces and means of the collective security system in the crisis zone in a conditional member state.
On the basis of the presented analysis of the military-political and military-strategic situation in conditional member states of the organization, the working groups developed proposals for draft decisions aimed at implementing joint measures to resolve crisis situations. At the same time, the influence of individual neighboring countries, military-political blocs and alliances on the situation in the collective security regions was taken into account. In addition, questions were worked out on the organization of interaction both between the established groups in the CSTO Crisis Response Center activities, and with the operational groups of the organization’s member states.

This event is the first initial stage of the operational-strategic exercises "Combat Brotherhood"

One of the elements of the final stage was the meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council, which was held under the leadership of the Acting Secretary General of the organization, Valery Semerikov . It reviewed draft decisions of the Collective Security Council, as well as the Councils of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of an organization dealing with crisis situations in the Eastern European and Central Asian regions of collective security.
Note that the joint Business Game of the CSTO member states is held annually. “The peculiarity of the game this year is that it takes place on the basis of the Crisis Response Center, which was created by a decision of the Collective Security Council,” Valery Semerikov noted. According to him, similar centers are now being formed in all CSTO member states. “This greatly facilitated the work and communication with the states, we worked with many online while preparing proposals, approvals, clarifications of emerging issues. The speed of decision making by the statutory bodies is very important, since the Crisis Response Regulation provides for very short deadlines. However, in order for these decisions to be made, they must first be prepared and agreed upon, ”said the Acting Secretary General of the CSTO. Valerii Semerikov also added that the final approval of all documents and summing up the results of the Business Game will be held on April 3 of the current year.
Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, in turn, stressed that this event was the first initial stage of the “Combat Brotherhood” operational-strategic exercise. “The decisions that were prepared during the joint Business game will form the basis for maneuvering,” he noted. In addition, according to Anatoly Sidorov, this year for the first time in the framework of the CSTO, it is planned to hold special exercises of the logistical support forces called "Echelon-2019".
