On September 29–30, 2026, the 6th International Conference of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on the spread of extremist ideology was held in Moscow. The CSTO delegation, comprising Umar Umarzoda, Head of the Department for Countering Challenges and Threats, and Igor Demchenko, Adviser to the Department, took part in the conference.
In the Russian Federation, at the Chebarkulsky training range, reconnaissance groups have begun practicing practical actions in designated areas as part of the CSTO special exercise with reconnaissance forces and assets “Search-2026”.
Today, a ceremony was held at the Chebarkulsky training range in the Russian Federation to open the command-and-staff exercise with the Collective Operational Reaction Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization “Interaction-2026” and the special exercises “Search-2026” and “Echelon-2026”.
Statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945
11.06.2026We, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states, on the eve of the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, bow our heads in memory of the tens of millions of our compatriots who became its victims. The attack carried out in the early morning of June 22, 1941, marked the first in a series of terrible trials that befell the peoples of our countries. Only the unprecedented feat of our ancestors, their unity, unbreakable resilience and heroic self-sacrifice saved humanity and world civilization from enslavement by the Nazis.
The Second World War was unleashed by those who were convinced of their own exceptionalism and superiority. At the same time, it is an indisputable fact that in the years preceding the war, the USSR consistently advocated the creation of a pan-European system of mutual commitments and guarantees designed to prevent the outbreak of a global military conflict.
We are convinced of the need to carefully preserve and pass on to future generations the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, its tragic beginning and heroic conclusion. To this end, we will continue to counter any attempts to falsify and distort the facts, revise the causes and outcomes of the conflict, including efforts to place equal responsibility for its outbreak on Nazi Germany and the countries of the Anti-Hitler Coalition.
We reaffirm the importance of the outcome of the Nuremberg Trials, the decisions of which have no statute of limitations. The actions of the Nazis and their accomplices must be regarded as genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union.
We call on all states and peoples to counter manifestations of neo-fascism and neo-Nazi ideology, the justification and glorification of Nazism, the promotion of intolerance on racial, ethnic and religious grounds, as well as the cultivation of ideas of one's own superiority. We consider the glorification of the Nazi movement and its accomplices unacceptable, including through the erection of monuments and memorials, renaming of streets, and public demonstrations aimed at glorifying the Nazi past and neo-Nazism. We reject attempts to declare representatives of Nazi organizations and organizations that collaborated with them as participants in national liberation movements.
We welcome the adoption of the annual UN General Assembly resolution “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance,” which our countries consistently co-sponsor.
We emphasize the importance of preserving and properly maintaining military graves and war memorials. Vandalism against such memorial sites is unjustifiable and must be met with the prosecution of those responsible.
In memory of all those who fell for the freedom and independence of our peoples, and with deep gratitude to the veterans, to whom we remain forever indebted, we express our readiness to continue collective efforts to prevent the recurrence of a conflict on a global scale.
We reaffirm the need to create conditions for long-term stability in Eurasia and to ensure it through the formation of a sustainable security architecture on the continent in accordance with the UN Charter, and call on all interested countries to work together to achieve this goal.
