On the eve, on September 4, the 16th meeting of the Coordinating Council for Emergency Situations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO CCES) was held in the city of Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Lieutenant General Boobek Azhikeyev.

The heads of the emergency departments of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Russian Federation and the CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov took part in the work of the Coordination Council.

The delegates summed up the activities of the Coordinating Council over the past year and reviewed the plan of joint activities for 2026 aimed at improving the effectiveness of cooperation within the CSTO in the field of emergency prevention and response.

In his welcoming speech, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Boobek Azhikeev, noted that a sustainable future was impossible without close cooperation between emergency departments.

"Only by combining our efforts will we be able to protect our countries from emergencies," Boobek Azhikeyev, Chairman of the Coordinating Council, said.

During the meeting, the members of the CCES discussed the issues of holding a special training "Skala" in 2026, which is planned to be held on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Also, according to CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov, the issue of creating a Humanitarian Center to coordinate emergency response in the Central Asian region was considered.

The Council decided to establish a working group to evaluate this initiative and work out the practical part of its implementation.

During the work of the CCES, the participants discussed the prospects for further cooperation with international organizations in order to use their potential in providing assistance to victims in emergency situations.

Following the meeting, the chairmanship of the CSTO CCES was transferred to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Alexander Kurenkov expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for the effective coordination of cooperation between the rescue agencies of the CSTO member states and confirmed that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation would continue to preside over the work of the Coordinating Council based on the principles of cooperation and mutual support.

He also said that the 17th meeting of the CSTO CCES was scheduled to be held in June 2026 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
