Representatives of the CSTO parliaments have discussed the indivisibility of security

Representatives of the CSTO parliaments have discussed the indivisibility of security 10.02.2022

February 9. /TASS/. Parliaments of the CSTO member States will work to explain to their states the principle of security indivisibility, which has recently become very important. This was reported to journalists by Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, after the first meeting of chairmen of committees and commissions of the parliaments of these countries.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov attended the meeting and, according to Kalashnikov, briefed the parliamentarians on "how the negotiations between Russia and the United States, Russia and NATO on security issues were going”.

"Quite an interesting and detailed conversation took place. We shared [our opinions] and discussed how, among other things, the CSTO member States can be not just allies here, but what kind of work needs to be done in their states so that the very indivisibility of security, which we often hear about on the screens and in the media, becomes a reality in the minds of the people of these CSTO countries," Kalashnikov said.

According to the head of the committee, this principle, which has become important for Russia and the Republic of Belarus, has been underestimated by the CSTO members in recent years. The deputy reported that the participants of the meeting made "a decision to deploy this work in the future in the CSTO countries.
