The CSTO Deputy Secretary General

ORDABAYEV Samat Islamovich

Born in 1958 in the Almaty region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Education is higher, Candidate of Sciences (Leningrad, 1989).

From 1981 to 1997, he studied in full-time postgraduate study at the All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences, worked in the system of the State Planning Committee of the Kazakh SSR, the Academy of Sciences, the State Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan for cooperation with the CIS and Baltic countries in various senior management positions.

Since 1998 he has been working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where he worked in various positions from attaché to director of the department. He has experience in the embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

In 2006-2007. he served as a Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee (Minsk).

From 2013 to 2016 he worked as a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2016-2020 he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

Since February 11, 2021, he has been working in the CSTO Secretariat as a Deputy Secretary General of the Organization.

He has a diplomatic rank of a minister extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the first class. He has decorated with an order “Kurmet” and many medals.
