During the “Conduct of combat operations” stage, two main training objectives are being practiced: the occupation by the national contingents of the CRDF CAR of the area of responsibility and the destruction of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
The active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) “Frontier-2026” has begun at the Koktal training range in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the exercise, the participating forces are practicing the preparation and conduct of combat operations to destroy illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
On September 11, 2026, a round table entitled “Kazakhstan–Central Asia–Greater Eurasia: resilience and security amid new challenges” was held at the Center for Social Conservative Policy. The event was organized by the CSTO Secretariat jointly with the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICCA RAS) and the Center for Social Conservative Policy (CSCP).
The event was attended by CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov, Director of the ICCA RAS Kirill Babaev, members of the CSTO Permanent Council and representatives of the academic and expert communities of the member states. The discussion was moderated by Yuri Shuvalov, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat.

20.09.2019At the invitation of the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, from September 24 to 27, 2019, a delegation of the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, led by the CSTO Acting Secretary General Valery Semerikov, will attend the 74th session of the UN General Assembly opened on September 17.
On the margins of the session, the CSTO Acting Secretary General will meet with the Deputy Secretary General - Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Directorate Vladimir Voronkov, the Deputy Secretary General - Head of the UN Peacekeeping Operations Department,Jean-Paul Lacroix, the UN Assistant Secretary General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Miroslav Jenca, the Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee M. Koninks, as well as the UN Assistant Secretary General for Issues of the Rule of Law and Security Institutions A.V.Zuev.
At the headquarters of the world organization, the head of the CSTO delegation will be one of the keynote speakers during the ministerial debate on the theme “UN cooperation with regional and subregional organizations in the maintenance of international peace and security: contribution of the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO to Countering Terrorist Threats” to be held at a meeting of the UN Security Council on September 25, 2019.
On September 27, Valery Semerikov will also take part in the working meeting of the CSTO member states' foreign ministers, traditionally held on the margins of the sessions of the UN General Assembly. The meetings discuss issues of coordinating the positions of the CSTO member states on the agenda items of the UN General Assembly, as well as other issues affecting the interests of the Organization member states.
